Biography
The Hungarian soprano, Ingrid Kertesi, studied at the Franz Liszt Music Acadmy in Budapest, particularly with Erika Sziklay, and received in 1985 a scholarship for further training in Bayreuth.
Then, since 1985 she has been a member of the National Opera Budapest, where she made her debut as Page Oscar in Verdi's Ballo in maschera. From 1988 to 1990 she belonged to the ensemble of the Comic Opera in Berlin. In 1987 she made guest appearance at the Vienna State Opera as Olympia in Hoffmanns Erzählungen. Afterwards she sang in Budapest Sophie in Rosenkavalier, and at the Festival of Bregenz in 1991 Frasquita in Carmen. In Budapest she sang in 1991 also the role of Olympia, and she had great success as Arsena in Zigeunerbaron.
Her repertoire for the stage covered among other things: Blondchen in Entführung aus dem Serail, Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro, Zerline in Don Giovanni, Despina in Così fan tutte, Marzelline in Fidelio, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, Norina in Don Pasquale, Adina in Elisir d'amore (Budapest 1995), Amina in Bellini's La Sonnambula, Serpina in La serva padrona by Giovanni Battista Pergolesi, Gilda in Rigoletto, Nannetta in Verdi's Falstaff, Adele in Fledermaus, Gretel in Hänsel und Gretel, and Ännchen in Freischütz. In the ortatorio repertoire she has performed works of J.S. Bach, Georg Frideric Handel, Mozart, Haydn, G.B. Pergolesi and Antonio Vivaldi.
